Supplemental Information (2024)

The Grant Committees recommendations are approved by the full Board of Directors before any grant funds are disbursed. Grantees are then notified via email of their award, including any restrictions on the use of funds. They are informed that they must report back to SHF on how the funds were used and the results of their program. Grant payments are made by check or ACH after SHF receives a signed grant agreement from the grantee. Report due dates are set based on the grant period outlined in the application. Grantees receive a reminder about one month before their report is due and are notified again if a report becomes overdue. If a grantee requests an extension for a valid reason, SHF will accommodate the request whenever possible to ensure that meaningful data is captured in the report. Grant reports are submitted through the online grant portal. Once a report is submitted, staff are notified and review it promptly. When a grant is completed, it is closed out in the online system. At each Grant Committee meeting, members receive an update on all reports submitted since the last meeting and any that are currently overdue. A Grant Report Summary document is also prepared before each Board meeting, summarizing the information from all reports received since the prior meeting. This summary is distributed to all Board members, and Grant Committee members may access all reports at any time through the online system. In addition to written reports, SHF often invites grantees to present at Grant Committee and Board meetings to share updates on their projects. Grant highlights are discussed at each committee meeting, and staff or board members occasionally conduct site visits to observe program progress and impact firsthand.
